Late last year, I learned that both DreamHack and the Halo Championship Series weren’t going to be returning to Dallas in 2026 within 24 hours of each other. Halo is pausing while they work on their new title, and DreamHack had to make different plans due to construction at the convention center (and the World Cup taking up the space that isn’t being worked on).
To say that I was heartbroken was an understatement. Both events were my biggest events, not just for networking, but for my photography. I was so heartbroken I cried for a good 10 minutes.
So, when DreamHack announced they would be moving their fall Atlanta convention up to the spring, I knew I had to make the trip.
This year, they tried something different; a program for photographers to take pictures of cosplayers and creators to submit to DreamHack for publication. While my area of expertise is in esports and gaming, I have always had a soft spot for cosplay. Being able to take pictures of these amazing creators and artists to have the chance to be published by DreamHack (with my name as the byline) sounded like an amazing way to get more experience in show and portrait photography. Portrait was how I started, so I found it to be the perfect opportunity to do more than just esports. I was accepted into the program, so my trip was solidified.
It was absolutely the busiest DreamHack I’ve ever had. Between the photos I needed to take, and the extra I wanted to take (of esports, of course), I ended with over 6,000 pictures to sort and edit. I’ve officially finished the cosplay & creator photos, and I’m excited to be able to share them here as well as turning them into DreamHack!
All of the photos from the cosplayers/creators are found on the same page here. I’ll have the rest of the photos up within the next week or two, as I’m also working on packing to move.
Also, if anyone hasn’t gotten the chance to vote for me at The*GameHers awards, voting is open till May 31st! If you enjoy my photos, I would really appreciate a vote here.
These are just a few of my favorites, make sure to check out the entire album!
