The Spawn Room is all about educating people about the esports industry. Esports has grown from so much more than sitting in a hotel room with bulky computer monitors or in basements with people duct taped to the ceiling.

Esports are now massive productions with decked out computers, cameras broadcasting the action, and even play by play announcers. It’s become just as big as professional sports, with kids looking up to professional esports players the same way they look to professional athletes.

However, there’s more to the industry than meets the eye. My goal is to provide exciting esports content that everyone can understand. I want to show the people behind the controllers and keyboards and how they are just as dedicated to their craft as any professional athlete. I want to show that youth gaming is going to carry the esports industry into the future, and a lot of that starts with gaming in the schools. I also want to show that gaming is for everyone, no matter your race, sex, gender, or disability. Having the tough conversations about how we can move the industry forward in diversity and inclusion is truly going to make gaming a safe space for everyone.
Rachel Olsen-Cooper has been a part of the esports industry since 2018 as the Operations Manager of Nemesis Media LLC. She’s also a content creator on Twitch, where she shows off her potato skills at gaming.

Outside of gaming, Rachel was a radio broadcaster for ten years, working in both collegiate and professional stations. She was the Sports Director at U-92FM, West Virginia University’s college station. She was also a part-time DJ at WVAQ-FM and WAJR-AM, where she was a part of staff that won two Marconi Awards. While living in Pittsburgh, Rachel was the Vice President of the Pittsburgh LAN Coalition, a local group that hosted in-person gaming events, as well as a discord manager for Twitch Pittsburgh, which was Twitch’s official community meet up group for the Pittsburgh area. Currently, Rachel lives in Texas with her husband, where in between work and her graduate studies, she plays video games, obsesses over K-Pop, and watches every cooking show that Guy Fieri has to offer. She’s an avid hockey fan, cheering on her hometown Pittsburgh Penguins from over 1,200 miles away, but has a new soft spot for the Dallas Stars.
