Captain’s Blog
Hello everyone! It’s been a few weeks, but there’s been a lot happening that I can’t wait to talk about. But this weekend is the much anticipated DreamHack Dallas, and we’ll be on the show floor the whole weekend.
Day 1 of a convention like this is normally a chill day, a day to take in the lay of the land and have a game plan of the days to come. Some of the highlights from the day included multiple live performances from Twitch and Kick creators, a great panel from the 1000 Dreams Fund about women and diversity in the gaming space, as well as DreamHack’s first ever drag show.
Esports kicked off with opening rounds of the Esports World Cup qualifiers in Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, FIFA 24, and Fortnite. It also saw quarterfinal competitions in Overwatch 2, ESL Impact (Women’s Counter-Strike), and IEM Dallas. We’ll have more to report on all of these in the coming days.
We’ll also have a special article on Sunday revolving around Street Fighter 6. But that’s a surprise.
Tomorrow will be full of esports updates, community meet-ups with the collegiate esports community, and hopefully more things to scan because I like free stuff.
Here’s some picture highlights of Day 1. All photos can be found in the photography portfolio!
