Ally Financial Inc. announced on Tuesday that they would be expanding their sponsorship with BLAST and Rocket League Esports to allow more opportunities for women in esports.
Since June 2022, Ally has promoted equity in women’s sports, pledging to a 50/50 split of men’s and women’s sports advertising, which includes esports. And in 2023, they became a sponsor of the North American Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) and created the Ally Women’s Open, a Rocket League tournament with $20,000 prize pools in both North America and Europe.
The tournaments, known as the Star Chasers Showdown, will pair the two brands up with Radiant to create three women focused tournaments, as well as a co-ed main event throughout 2024, with a prize pool totaling $75k.
According to the Rocket League Esports X account (formerly known as Twitter), the tournaments will take place in April, July, September, and November with their All-Star event. The All-Star event will showcase the women pros, pros from the RLCS and Collegiate Rocket League (CRL), as well as Rocket League creators.
Ally will also have branding throughout the 2024 RLCS North American Open Qualifies, both London and Copenhagen Majors, and the World Championship broadcasts, according to The Esports Advocate.
All of the tournament dates will be streamed on the Radiant Twitch channel. You can find information on how to sign up your team on their website.
This is another huge step for women in esports, showing that they belong in the industry and that no one can slow them down.
