Due to some unfortunate circumstances, we weren’t able to go out for Day One of the Halo Championship Series Arlington Major. However, here’s a quick recap of some of the matches featured on Twitch today.

  • Native Gaming and Sentinels are both starting out the weekend 0-2. Native fell to European powerhouse FOE and Spacestation Gaming. Shopify Rebellion and newcomers Proton dropped Sentinels 3-1 in each match.
  • 2023 World Halo Champions FaZe Clan started out their weekend strong with two sweeps against Quantum Gaming and Ascending Baseline.
  • OpTic Gaming also came out swinging, winning out against Bittersweet and 3-1 to cross-town rivals Complexity.
  • Spacestation Gaming defeated FOE along with Native Gaming, and Shopify Rebellion also took down Proton to round out the top teams of the day going into Day 2.

As a side note: Ascending Baseline was a team that many were focused on thanks to squad member Spytomic. Spytomic normally goes by MoNsTcR, and is well known for his online gameplay. Many in the space have accused him of cheating, and were curious as to how he would play in a LAN tournament.

OpTic FormaL weighed in on his thoughts on MoNsTcR, saying that he doesn’t believe he’s cheating, but that he can take any team to the finals in any online tournament.

Spytomic was held to negative K/Ds in each of the maps against FaZe.

Saturday continues pool play, with the additions of 4 new teams from the end of open bracket play: Cloud9, Lore Gaming, Darkest Hour, and Business. They will go up against the rest of the pooled teams to decide who moves on to the quarter finals.

The Spawn Room will be there for Days 2 and 3, with recaps and photos after each day. Make sure you follow us on Twitter to stay up to date with all things HCS Arlington!
